Most thermoplastic materials are inherently low in surface energy, which makes it difficult to bond, paint or decorate.
Our proprietary process permanently increases the surface energy of polymeric materials. It does not subject the parts to thermal or other energetic processes, which can disrupt the haptics of the part. The gas phase process ensures 360° coverage of the parts, evenly activating every exposed surface. Treated parts can be stored for extended periods and remain activated, unlike flame, plasma or corona treatments. While treated materials are transformed at the surface, the bulk properties remain the same - thus the overall part integrity is maintained.
This technology can be applied to all plastics and elastomers of any form and shape to enhance performance. Treated plastic surfaces can then be easily bonded or decorated with water-based systems. Materials can be imparted with highly wettable surface properties for various applications including wound care, filtration, and personal hygiene.
